The seminars are presented and developed by Judy Kovatch. Judy has an E-RYT designation from Yoga Alliance.   Judy draws from a tradition of yoga that is non-dogmatic and open to all levels of ability. Her teaching stresses the adaptation of poses, to address the needs of the individual student . She encourages her students to enter a space of graceful self-inquiry, helping them access their own potential for creativity using yoga as a vehicle to achieve total wellness of body, mind and spirit.   

Gentle Healing Yoga
  
A multifaceted approach to wellness, appropriate for all ages, levels of fitness and physical ability. It incorporates soothing stretches, restorative yoga, calming breathing practice, guided imagery, and deep relaxation.  Helps relieve stress, increase flexibility, release deeply held tension, enhance awareness and promotes an overall sense of well being.   The practice includes movements and postures that gently encourage the body to relax and release opening up possibilities to further explore the practice of yoga.  You will learn how to listen to your body, fully appreciating your own individual experience.   Open to all levels from beginners with no experience and may be particularly beneficial for those with limited mobility or stressful lives.

 

 Yoga Wellness Wisdom for a High Stress World Introduces participants to concrete and specific yoga-based tools that promote wellness. The Yoga for Wellness workshop is an introduction to the Yoga Wellness Program, and is valuable as a stand-alone experience. The experiential workshop focuses on stress reduction and total wellness. It provides basic information and teaches participants to specific easy to use tools to  reduce stress and promote wellness. Topics Explored : What is Stress and How do I Reduce it?    Importance of Breathing, Healthy Bones, Joints and Muscles,  Healthy Immune System,  Your Heart and The Circulatory System. Endocrine System and Balancing Energy

Yoga  and Healthy Action for Weight Control  Change your relationship with food and exercise from the inside out. With a Weight management program that combines yoga, meditation, positive thinking, and guided imagery. A nurturing, holistic approach that is gentle, accepting and non-judgmental.  You'll learn how to alter your eating patterns and increase your motivation to make healthy lifestyle changes. You’ll experience guided imagery to relax. And you’ll learn a deep breathing and a yoga routine. A set of handouts is included to help you use the tools at home. All shapes and sizes are welcome and respected. The Yoga for Weight workshop is an introduction to the 8-week Yoga and Weight Control program, and available as a stand-alone experience. Appropriate for a beginners 

The Five Tibetans  Learn one of the best-kept secrets for improving health, increasing energy, feeling younger and controlling weight. The best thing about the practice is that anyone can do it and you don’t have to do it perfectly to benefit. The Five Tibetans are a great way to begin a daily yoga practice at home and to keep your body in shape especially if you have limited time or limited space. We discuss how and why the practice is so effective and Judy provides alternatives and modifications for getting started with comfort and ease. Appropriate for a beginners

Introduction to Meditation  Improving health is a primary motivation to learn  Meditation, an enjoyable activity with many benefits for health and well being. Answers the questions What exactly is Meditation?  What are the benefits? Where does my mind go when I meditate? When outside thoughts or emotions come up, what do I do? What do I do while I’m meditating?  How do I Integrate Meditation into my busy life?  Discussion is encouraged to gain a deeper understanding of the principles and practices involved. Experience three types of meditation so you can find what works for you 


Yoga Nidra
    Deep Relaxation  Establishes the link between the conscious desires, the will power, the subconscious and the mind.  Reap benefits and feel in total control of all aspects of your life. Experience deep peaceful physical and mental relaxation as Judy’s soothing voice gently guides you in a traditional state of yogic sleep where the body and mind relax completely and the sub-conscious remains active and engaged. 

Introduction to Chanting   If you have never chanted in Sanskrit before, be prepared to have fun. An enchanting blend of music and meditation!! Judy introduces you to responsive chanting and the music will be just loud enough no one will hear you sing! The goal of chanting is to create a connection to the inner self. It’s meant to be inclusive and fun. Although the chants are done in Sanskrit, it is not connected with any particular religion or group.

 

Introduction to Mudras A mudra is a gesture of the hands that guides energy flow and reflexes to the brain. By curling, crossing, stretching and touching the fingers and hands, we can talk to the body, breath and mind.  Judy teaches a series of 12 mudras and you learn how to use them as a meditation practice

Workshops to Explore and Experience Subtle Energy

The  Five Koshas   Explore the yoga bodies and the layers as a tool that can deepen your yoga practice and your overall quality of life. Written about in the Upanishads, the bodies and layers are said to begin outside with the physical body and move inward towards the core of the true self, the embodied soul, the spark of divinity that is within the heart of every living being, The three bodies and five layers correspond to the ancient and universal concept of body, mind and spirit Learn about, discuss and experience through posture, breath and guided meditation The Five Koshas, including The Prana Vayus, Chakras and Nadis. For anyone who is serious about yoga.  Experience with basic yoga postures is required

 

Introduction to The Seven Major Chakras   Connect with your inner power for spiritual and physical healing.  Chakras are the body’s energy centers through which the life force flows, helping us maintain physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual balance. Each of these centers correlates to major nerve ganglia branching forth from the spinal column.  In the workshop we explore the nature of these spinning wheels of energy. You will learn the Sanskrit name for each Chakra, its meaning, location, element, function, color, and mantra sound.
